Citroen opened bookings for the Basalt coupe SUV in the Indian market at INR 11,001/-. The brand also announced that the Citroen Basalt is available to be booked from all La Maison Citroen dealerships as well as the official website online. In addition to this, the French car manufacturer also revealed that the Basalt comes with an exclusive introductory price starting at INR 7.99 lakh ex-showroom. Powering the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV are two engine options. A 1.2-litre PureTech 82, which is a 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 82 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox and Citroen does not offer any automatic option.
What we drove for the test review was a higher-spec 1.2-litre PureTech 110 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The motor produces 110 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. But on the 6-speed torque converter automatic option the engine makes 205 Nm of torque. Citroen also claims that the PureTech 82 engine returns a fuel efficiency of 18 KMPL and the PureTech 110 Turbo-Petrol engine with the 6MT gets a fuel economy of 19.5 KMPL and the 6AT claims an efficiency of 18.7 KMPL.
On its exteriors, the Citroen Basalt comes with a muscular front fascia with a large air dam section and Y-shaped LED DRLs. The Basalt also gets Projector Vision LED headlamps and halogen fog lamps. The Basalt also comes with 3D Effect Taillamps and a sloping roofline with aerodynamic features and a tailgate incorporated spoiler.
On the inside, the Basalt gets a 26-cm Citroen Connect touchscreen infotainment system. This comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car also comes with 17.78-cm colour TFT digital drivers display and features such as wireless smartphone charging, Smart Tilt Cushion, Advanced Comfort Rear Headrests, Tropicalised automatic climate control AC with rear AC vents and more. The Basalt also gets a 470-litre boot and 980mm of knee room in the 2nd row seats.
