Yamaha Motor India has showcased the new YZF-R3 and the MT-03 to automotive journalists in India. However, Yamaha might be a little late to the party. Team Blue has always been known to offer technologically advanced motorbikes than rivals. However, in terms of pricing, they are positioned at a premium level. Rival KTM offers much more features at a lesser price. Now, with Hero-Harley and Bajaj-Triumph entering into the market, the competition in this segment is getting quite aggressive. Kawasaki also has its Ninja 300.
2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 & MT-03 : Plans for India
Yamaha is looking at launching these bikes for the festive season this year. Hence, the Japanese bike maker might make an official announcement as early as August 2023. To this effect, the bikes were first showcased to dealer partners ahead of the official launch.
Apart from the YZF-R3 & MT-03, Yamaha also displayed the larger YZF-R7 and MT-07 at the same event. Furthermore, the YZF-R7, MT-07 and MT-09 were also showcased at a closed event earlier this year.
At some dealerships, customers are able to book the 2023 YZF-R3 and MT-03. These bookings are unofficial and dealers are accepting anywhere from INR 5,000-20,000 as booking amounts.
Details of the 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 & MT-03
As these bikes are already available in the overseas markets, we can expect Yamaha to offer them in the same spec in India. This means, both the YZF-R3 and MT-03 will make use of a 321cc parallel-twin engine. It develops 40.4 BHP and 29.4 Nm of peak torque.
Features on the bikes include all-LED lighting, a fully digital instrument cluster and dual-channel ABS.

Yamaha’s iconic RX100 name plate is set to make a comeback. No, the Japanese bike maker is unlikely to launch a new RX 100 commuter bike, but wants to use the name on a modern bike that pays homage to the yesteryear’s icon.
The classic RX 100 was well known for its light weight, nimble handling and its power. Not to mention its exhaust sound as well. The iconic bike’s sound was thanks to its two stroke engine.
