Yamaha has unveiled the upgraded Niken GT. For the 2023 model year, the bike will get a new 890cc Euro5-rated engine that is even more powerful.
Performance of the 2023 Yamaha Niken GT
The three-cylinder inline engine gets a 5% bump in the cubic capacity. It comes with a new steel frame to house the engine’s forward incline. This engine is a variation of the one used in the Tracer 9 and MT-09.
Along with the new engine, the bike gets a revised intake, air cleaner and a new exhaust. Yamaha says that the new exhaust improves the ground clearance of the motorcycle.
The Clutch is upgraded as well, and a new slipper clutch with a quick shifter does the job of handling these horses extra. The bi-directional slipper clutch is an improvement over the last generation’s upshift-only quick shifter.
Electronic upgrades include revised Rider Modes – Sport, Street and Rain along with improved traction control. The GT now also gets cruise control.
Other updates on the 2023 Yamaha Niken GT
The Niken GT now gets a drive-by-wire tech. The cables are now replaced by electronics. It also gets a 7-inch TFT display that can make use of Garmin Navigation apart from the usual call and messaging capabilities (when paired with a mobile phone).
The handlebar now comes with new switches and a 5-way joystick to control the functions of the TFT screen. A USB A outlet is provided, while a 12V socket is given under the seat.
Improvement in Rider Comfort
The new seat allows an adjustment of up to 70 mm thanks to a level placed next to the TFT screen. This should be an excellent feature to ensure that the bike offers a comfortable seat height for riders of various sizes. The luggage stays also get a new design and can securely mount up to 30 kgs of luggage to each side of the GT.
Pricing and Availability
The price announcement and availability are expected to be announced before the end of the current year.
