India’s most advanced scooter steps up the game, with an added feature for safety. Yamaha has introduced traction control system on the Aerox 155 and there’s a new paint option too. The 2023 Yamaha Aerox 155 maxi-scooter with traction control in the new silver shade has been priced at INR 1,42,800. As of now, the Yamaha Aerox 155 has only one rival in the Indian market, which is the Aprilia SXR 160.
Traction Control – Why?
In the mass market scooter segment, the Yamaha Aerox 155 is the most powerful product. This could also be a first scooter for the enthusiastic buyers. So as an added layer of safety, traction control system has been added. If the rear wheel detects a slip, the power will be cut-off till the wheel has enough grip to push the vehicle ahead, even though the throttle is still wide open. This will help avoid any accidents or unwanted slides when the road surface is slippery or not ideal to put the power down. By reducing wheelspin in such a situation, Yamaha is offering extra control to the rider, with their updated Aerox 155.
Same Engine?
Powering the Yamaha Aerox 155 is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve, Blue Code engine with variable valve actuation which is one of a kind in the segment. This engine is now E20 fuel compliant and also comes equipped with OBD-II onboard diagnostics. The motor produces 15 PS of power @ 8000 RPM and 13.9 Nm of torque @ 6500 RPM matched to a CVT automatic gearbox. This same engine is not shared by any other Yamaha scooter, but as we know, it is derived from the R15 sports bike.
What’s More?
With the new silver shade, one can notice that the Aerox 155 now comes with gold painted wheels and golden decals too. The mix of silver, black & gold looks very classy, and the scooter itself is very sporty to look at. The 2023 Yamaha Aerox 155 also gets a new hazard light function as a standard feature which will help alert other road users in the event of a breakdown.
