2023 Triumph Scrambler 400cc bike spotted road testing, Made-in-India

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Spotted again, here is the upcoming scrambler styled motorcycle from Triumph for the global markets. This bike is jointly developed with Bajaj, just like the entry-level KTM motorcycles. This new Triumph Scrambler will first go on sale in India, and will be exported to major markets from our shores. The initial plan was to launch 250cc & 400cc motorcycles, but after the pandemic, we guess these plans have been shelved and only 400cc bikes are going to hit the streets.

Triumph Scrambler 400 Features:

In this latest set of spyshots (video), we can notice plenty of details about this upcoming Triumph Scrambler motorcycle. Firstly, this is going to be one of the most affordable bikes from the brand in India. Also, there would be multiple body styles launched using this platform, to appeal to a wider audience.

What you can see here is USD front forks, rear monoshock, dual barrel exhaust system, alloy wheels, front & rear disc brakes, lateral visibility reflectors, typical off-road style high mounted front mud guard, LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, LED turn indicator, front fly screen, chrome finished fuel filler cap, digital + analogue speedometer cluster, split seat setup, accessory mounts, tank grip pads, protection / crash bars, handlebar brace with pad, dark themed / blacked out engine section, drive chain on the RHS and a sleek rear fender.

Triumph Scrambler 400 Specifications:

Now the exact engine capacity number is unknown, but this is going to be a 400cc-class motorcycle. As you can see, the bike will feature a liquid-cooled motor and will most likely get a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch. Going by the styling and intent of the bike, we expect a healthy torque figure output so that Triumph could attract a few potential Royal Enfield buyers as well. While some might think this bike would be a rival to the likes of Royal Enfield Hunter 350, in reality, it could rival the likes of the upcoming Himalayan & Scram 450cc liquid-cooled motorcycles.

Triumph Scrambler 400 Price:

The estimated pricing number is roughly INR 3.5 – 4 lakh. These bikes could be priced at par, or at a slight premium compared to the KTM motorcycles. Will Bajaj be kitting up the Triumph bikes just as much as KTM at any given price point, time will tell, and it is also the decision which Triumph will make for better differentiation in the market.
