Looking to get the Tata Nexon? Maybe you should just wait for a while as the facelift update is upcoming soon. Recently the SUV has been spied testing yet again. This new set of spy shots gives us a much clearer and closer look at the interior. We believe Tata Motors will launch the SUV in August 2023.
Nexon Remains Tata’s Best Seller
The Nexon continues to drive huge numbers for Tata Motors. For the month of March 2023, Tata Motors retailed a total of 14,000 units. This accounted for about 33 per cent of the brand’s overall sales figures, which is a pretty high figure. Interestingly enough now it has been more than three years since the last update and thus Tata is working hard to bring the updated version of the Nexon with significant updates.
Tata Nexon Facelift Might Get A New Infotainment Unit
We see that the interiors of the updated Nexon will share a lot with the Tata Curvv concept. The new spy shots reveal a flat-bottom steering wheel that gets steering-mounted controls. But the key talking points are the addition of a digital driver’s display and the 10.25-inch touchscreen. We first saw this updated touchscreen make its debut on the Nexon EV Max Dark edition. And this is the first time we’ve seen the new instrument cluster on the SUV.
We have had spy shots of the Nexon facelift previously as well. But that time around it came with a different centre console as that spy mule had a manual transmission. In fact, there are also rumours that Tata Nexon could make use of the in-house dual-clutch transmission, the DCA gearbox. This is currently only available on the Tata Altroz.
Tata Nexon Engine Details
As has been the case with most facelifts, we are also expecting a marginal bump in power on the Nexon. Thus, Tata could equip the Nexon facelift with the all-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. We saw the engine first at Auto Expo with the Curvv ICE concept. This 1.2-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine is a three-cylinder unit that makes 125 HP at 5,000rpm and 225 Nm of torque between 1,700 and 3,500rpm.
The current Nexon comes with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes out 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque. We expect Tata Motors to continue with 1.5-litre diesel as well, which churns out 115 HP and 260 Nm of torque.
Tata Nexon Rivals Options
The sub-4-metre SUV segment is already pretty much heated with tons of options. Currently, the SUV has plenty of rivals in this category. This includes the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV300.
