2023 Mahindra eXUV300 spotted testing

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

With the EV business going in full flow, the latest entrant to the market is Mahindra. Although, not officially, fresh images of a camouflaged electric SUV surfaced on the internet. And from the overall silhouette, this is most likely the electric version of the XUV300. With its success in the ICE segment going strong spearheaded by the XUV700, the company is now exploring the options in the EV segment. As per reports, the eXUV300 EV will arrive sometime in 2023. Alongside this, the company has plans for a host of other electric models as well. This is a very crucial move that will affect the Indian EV sector significantly.

What Do We Know So Far?

Mahindra has not revealed any official factsheet for the eXUV300. But, as per sources, the SUV will most likely feature a 40kWh battery. And the driving range from this battery will lie somewhere in the range of 280 to 320 km. Recent reports claim that Mahindra has now put the eXUV300 project on fast track. Based on Mahindra’s MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture) 350 platform, we are quite excited to see the car in action.

EV Segment Witnessing Significant Growth

Tata Nexon EV, which is currently the top-selling electric car in the market, registers close to 2,000 sales per month. This is a significant figure that is helping Tata Motors to control a market share of close to 60 per cent. EV is the future of the automotive industry, and hence a host of carmakers are on their quest to enter this segment.

Mahindra’s first EV offering, the eKUV100, was supposed to hit the roads this year. But, the Covid-19 situation has delayed its launch. Mahindra has confirmed that eKUV100 will only cater to fleet operators. Private buyers won’t have the option to get this EV to their homes. This is also because Mahindra will price this competitively, and hence it will come with a lower driving range. Mahindra unveiled the concepts of both the eXUV300 and eKUV100 at last year’s Auto Expo.
