Hyundai has officially revealed the exterior design of their upcoming Exter micro-SUV in the form of a design sketch. To be positioned below the Venue sub-4 metre compact-SUV, the Hyundai Exter will rival the likes of Tata Punch in the Indian market. Hyundai says that the Exter is based on the Sensuous Sportiness design language, and this image does hint at a promising exterior design. Hyundai’s Exter is being pitched as a lifestyle product, but it will be in the B-segment where it will also rival premium hatchbacks. The Exter is designed & developed keeping in mind the Gen Z customer needs.
Hyundai Exter Features:
Hyundai’s Exter will have the signature parametric design language. The image reveals details such as a projector LED headlamp with chrome surrounds and positioned on the bumper. H-shaped LED DRL below the bonnet shut line. Large black section on the front bumper as the main grille. Silver finished front skid plate, roof rails, LED turn indicators on the ORVMs, flared wheel arches, Hyundai logo on the bonnet, blacked out A & B pillar, multiple crease lines on the body & conventional pull type door handles.
What is the Hyundai Exter?
Hyundai is calling the Exter an SUV, but this would be a front-wheel-drive product. Not an off-road vehicle. However, the design language is such, that it tries to imitate the products from the SUV segment, with boxy design highlights.
Powering the Hyundai Exter could be the same engine options we see in the Hyundai Aura & Grand i10 Nios. Don’t expect a diesel engine option with this one. Hyundai could also offer an AMT automatic transmission option for the Exter. A CNG variant could be in the pipeline in the future, considering Tata is soon going to launch the Punch iCNG with dual cylinder technology.
Hyundai could have also developed the Exter keeping in mind an EV version of it for the near future. But this is mere speculation as of now.
Hyundai’s Exter is a very important product for the brand, given that the Santro is discontinued. Expected to drive high volumes, the Exter could be one of the most affordable Hyundai models to go on sale in the current market.
