2023 Honda City Facelift with ADAS Review

Honda City is a name everyone knows. The quintessential sedan is something that many Indians aspire to own one day. When you have a Honda City parked in your driveway, the dream is fulfilled. Such is the brand value of the City, that this sedan has single handedly turned the fortunes for Honda India.

Honda City : A brief history

The 5th-generation Honda City was launched back in July 2020. But, it has been over 20 years since Honda is selling the City in India. The sedan has survived tough times and yet, even today, it is the main cash source of the Japanese carmaker. Over these many years, the car has increased in size and upped its game many times.

2023 Honda City Facelift with ADAS

Let us take a brief look at the 2023 Honda City Facelift. For this version, Honda has upgraded the car cosmetically as well as feature wise. The car comes with new updates along with the important ADAS features as well.

For starters, Honda offers the new City in 6 paint options – Obsidian Blue Pearl , Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic and Golden Brown Metallic. Amongst these, the Blue is a new colour. Further, the car is also now longer by 34 mm. The length now stands at 4,853 mm.

On the inside, the car comes with ambient lighting, a new infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play, a wireless smartphone charger and ADAS features. Earlier, ADAS was available only on the City Hybrid. Another highlight is a new feature to the ADAS tech in the City Hybrid called the “Low-Speed Follow” function. This enables the driver to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. City facelift also gets a “Lead Car Departure Notification System” that alerts the driver when the car in front starts moving.

In terms of engine options, the Honda has discontinued the diesel due to the upcoming RDE emission norms. Hence, the car now comes with 1.5-litre NA motor and a 1.5-litre with a hybrid system. The hybrid version comes with a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle I-VTEC DOHC engine. Honda has paired this petrol engine with a self-charging and highly efficient twin-motor e-CVT Hybrid system. This engine develops 126 HP of power and 253 Nm of torque. The fuel economy of this car is claimed to be 27.13 km/l. Meanwhile the regular 1.5-motor puts out 121 HP of peak power. Further, both engines are now E20 compatible.
