Ather Energy brings in an entry-level trim of the 450X electric scooter. This retails with a price tag of INR 98,183 (ex-showroom, Delhi with FAME II and state subsidy). Noteworthy to mention, it comes with a slow charger. The new entry-level variant will aim to attract customers looking for a basic electric scooter. But for the ones looking to get an Ather 450X with all bells and whistles. Ather is offering a Pro Pack-equipped variant. This will cost an additional INR 30,000 and comes with a fast charger. The Pro Pack variant is almost INR 11,000 cheaper than the previous top-spec variant of the 450X.
What’s New With The Ather 450X Entry-Level Variant?
Starting off with the common points between the two variants. They both share the same design, suspension, chassis, and wheels. In fact both the trims also come with the same set of colour options. The equipped 6.4kW motor is also the same. In fact, the performance figures are also the same at a max torque 26 Nm and a top speed of 90 kmph and a gradability of 20 degrees.
With this new basic trim, Ather omitted a host of features. The most notable feature omission is that it doesn’t get any ride modes. So, there’s a default mode, which delivers the same acceleration and performance as what the Ride mode offers in the Pro Pack-equipped scooter.
The other feature omissions include hill-hold assist, park assist (reverse feature), Bluetooth connectivity as well as the 4G LTE sim. This effectively means that the rider cannot enable any live tracking or GPS navigation and thus no OTA updates as well.
In fact, the 7-inch touchscreen display also gets a more basic, greyscale colour interface. But the big surprise is that this lower-spec scooter gets the same 3.7kWh battery pack. But, the noteworthy mention is that the base model gets far bigger charging times. We know that the time taken to charge the battery on the 450X Pro Pack is 5hr40min. But the time taken to recharge the battery in the base variant is 15h20min.
Warranty Periods
As for battery warranty, the base 450X gets a 3-year/30,000km warranty. But the Pro Pack equipped scooter has a 5-year/60,000km warranty. Although the warranty on the basic trim and charger is the same as the pro trim at 3-year/30,000km.
