With the launch of the new Toyota and Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming Creta rival coming soon, there are new details coming in. Firstly, we now know the name of Toyota’s iteration of the SUV, the Hyryder. The company will unveil the car on 1st July 2022. Not long after that, Maruti Suzuki will reveal its version of the SUV. The latest reports bring us the power figures for Toyota’s latest SUV.

Upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV – Powertrain Details

The upcoming Toyota SUV will get two 1.5-litre petrol engine options. However, one will get a mild-hybrid technology, while the other will be a strong hybrid. According to sources, the Toyota and Maruti Suzuki iterations of the SUV will use the K15C 1.5-litre engine from Maruti Suzuki. Hence, the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine will produce 103 PS. This figure is the same as the Ertiga and the XL6. The engine will come in two transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Interestingly, the latest reports state that the mild-hybrid setup will also get an all-wheel-drive option.

On the other hand, the 1.5-litre petrol engine with a strong hybrid setup will make 116 PS of power. This figure is the same as the international-spec Suzuki Vitara Hybrid. The engine will send power to the front wheels using an e-CVT. The e-CVT, unlike the Vitara Hybrid’s 6-speed AMT, will offer a smoother driving experience. The 1.5-litre engine with the strong hybrid setup could offer class-leading fuel efficiency. However, there won’t be a diesel option available on either model.
