2022 Tata Nexon EV Max Review

Tata Motors India’s Nexon was quite successful, as it offered good space, dynamics and ride quality. However, the surprise was the Nexon EV. When Tata launched the Nexon EV, people had their doubts, but they quickly went away. Given the rising petrol and diesel prices, EV adoption started picking up, and Tata was ready. The Nexon EV quickly became a popular choice for buyers after experiencing it. It also helped that it was the most affordable option at the time. But even after the successful run, some people were still shying away from the Nexon EV because of the limited range. 

Hence, to address this and also to take on more expensive rivals, Tata has launched the new Nexon EV Max. Most importantly, the Nexon EV Max offers a bigger battery pack and a longer range. Other revisions also include some interior tweaks and additional safety features.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Price & Variants

Pricing for the new Nexon EV Max starts at INR 17.74 lakh ex-showroom. The model is available in two variants – XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. The XZ+ variant costs INR 17.74 lakh ex-showroom, and the XZ+ variant INR 18.74 lakh ex-showroom. Additionally, both the variants get an option of upgrading the charger to a new 7.2 kW AC Fast Charger. The pricing with the optional charger is – INR 18.24 lakh ex-showroom and INR 19.24 lakh ex-showroom for the XZ+ and XZ+ Lux variants.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Powertrain

The new Nexon EV Max uses a 105 kW PMS AV motor and produces 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque. For a longer range, the Nexon EV Max gets a 33 per cent larger battery pack than the Nexon EV. It uses a 40.5 kW high energy density lithium-ion with a liquid-cooling system. The additional power and bigger battery help the Nexon EV Max make the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in less than 9 seconds. The top speed is increased but electronically limited to 140 kmph. According to the MIDC Cycle, the Nexon EV Max has a claimed range of 437 km.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Fast Charging

The Nexon EV Max also comes with a standard 3.3 kW wall box charger like the Nexon EV. However, optional on the new Nexon EV Max is a new 7.2 kW AC Fast Charger. Charging time estimates when using a 15A plug is 15 hours for a 10 to 100 per cent charge. However, using the new 7.2 kW AC Fast Charger drops the time down to 6.5 hours for a 0 to 100 per cent charge.
