2022 Tata Ace EV unveiled in India, bookings open

Tata Motors has launched the electric version of its most popular CV, Tata Ace. The new all-electric CV is a part of Tata’s ‘Future DeliEVered’ initiative. Furthermore, the Tata Ace EV becomes the first four-wheeled commercial electric vehicle.

The nickname for the Ace is ‘Chhota Haathi’ because it pushes above its weight. The Ace broke the sales record in 2012 with more than 2 million units sold. Additionally, Tata claims an Ace is sold every 3 minutes. The electric version of the Ace aims to continue the model’s success story. The Ace EV will provide an enhanced and economical last-mile delivery solution.

Tata Motors also announced the signing of MoUs with leading e-commerce companies and logistics service providers. These include Amazon, BigBasket, Flipkart, LetsTransport, MoEVing, Yelo EV, DOT and City Link. With all the signed MoUs, the company received orders for 39,000 units of the Ace EV.

Tata Ace EV – Top Highlights

Aesthetically, the Tata Ace EV continues to have the same design as before. However, the Ace EV will get new features for an enhanced experience. These features include a new 7-inch infotainment screen and a new-gen instrument console. The Ace will also get Fleet Edge to support vehicle tracking. As for safety and convenience, the electric CV will also get a reverse camera and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Tata Ace EV – Powertrain

The Ace EV is the first Tata car to feature its new EVOGEN platform. It uses a Lithium-ion Phosphate battery technology as it is thermally stable. This makes it suitable for India’s high operating temperatures. In addition to this, the battery also features liquid cooling. It is also IP67-rated for water and dust protection.

The motor produces 36 HP of peak power and 130 Nm of peak torque. The EV is able to accelerate from 0-30 kmph in 7 seconds. The Ace EV also features best in class gradeability of 22 per cent. The EVOGEN powered Ace EV offers a certified range of 154 km. The commercial vehicle also gets regenerative brakes which help to improve the vehicle’s range.

Tata Ace EV – Fast Charging

The Tata Ace EV gets two separate ports for fast and regular charging. The fast charging time for the commercial EV is 105 min for a charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent. On the other hand, the regular charging time is 6-7 hours for a charge from 20 per cent to 100 per cent.
