Suzuki’s next-generation S-Cross has created quite the buzz among the online enthusiasts and forums prior to its debut. Multiple spy images of the new Suzuki S-Cross have made their rounds on social media in recent months. Meanwhile, the 2022 S-Cross has been spied yet again, showcasing its brand new front, side, and rear end.
With the dispatch to dealers already underway, Suzuki has scheduled the grand premiere of the 2022 S-Cross on November 25th, 2021. Suzuki aims to launch the new S-Cross in select European markets, followed by other international markets, including India. In early November, the Japanese automaker had released an official teaser for the SUV on their social media accounts.
2022 Suzuki S-Cross: Design DetailsĀ
The 2022 S-Cross gets an upright SUV stance instead of a crossover design based on the recently released spy shots. The new S-Cross sports radically different exterior elements despite retaining some of the crossover themes from its predecessor. At the redesigned front, the 2022 S-Cross features a new chrome-studded grille and tri-beam LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.
Connected via a thick chrome piece with a Suzuki logo, the headlamps bear a resemblance to the current-gen Suzuki XL6 MPV. The S-Cross sports a silver-coloured faux skid plate and intake vents with a new muscular bumper with fog lamps. Additionally, the S-Cross also features black plastic cladding on the wheels, arches, and door sills to enhance its SUV stance. Upon closer inspection, Suzuki has also repositioned the ORVMs on the doors instead of the window corners for better visibility.
2022 Suzuki S-Cross: Powertrain & FeaturesĀ
The recent spy shots do not showcase the interiors, but according to reports, Suzuki plans to increase their equipment list. For the 2022 S-Cross, the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is an expected feature along with lane keep assist. Other expected safety features include cross-traffic alerts, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control, along with a few others.
Suzuki may offer the S-Cross with two petrol engines, each paired to 2 gearbox options for international markets. These include a 1.5-litre K15B, naturally-aspirated motor and a 1.4-litre, Boosterjet turbocharged motor. With a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, the 1.5-litre engine may produce 104 PS and 138 Nm.
Meanwhile, the turbocharged engine produces 127 PS and 235 Nm with a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Suzuki also plans to offer the turbocharged engine of the S-Cross with their ‘AllGrip 4X4’ drivetrain and a 48V mild-hybrid system. This would provide better driveability and fuel efficiency in comparison to the 12V mild-hybrid system found on the current S-Cross.
