2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga spotted road testing

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Maruti Suzuki is planning to update the Ertiga MPV in the Indian market. The Ertiga facelift will become one of the long line-up of Maruti Suzuki vehicles getting ready for 2022. This list includes five new SUVs as well as the Baleno facelift, new Alto etc. The Ertiga contests in the MPV segment in the Indian market, which consists of the Mahindra Marazzo and Renault Triber.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift – Spyshots

According to spy shots, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will come with cosmetic upgrades. The MPV will feature the new-generation grille, which the brand has camouflaged completely. The pattern on the grille is likely to be similar to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift spied in the recent past. The brand has only disguised the radiator grille, while other components were sans camouflage. This leads us to believe that the upcoming Ertiga will only receive updates to that area. Other parts such as the headlights, alloy wheels and the front and rear bumpers are likely to remain the same.

On the other hand, images of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 also emerged recently wearing heavy camouflage. This leads us to believe that the more premium 6-seater version will have several updates. These are likely to include reprofiled front and rear bumpers as well as new alloy wheels. The XL6 may also get improvements to the interior of the vehicle.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift – Interior Updates

The current spy shots do not offer any sneak peek at the interiors of the new Ertiga. But we speculate that the brand is likely to offer mild changes such as upgrades to the seat upholstery and some features additions. These feature additions may include an updated instruments cluster and software updates to the infotainment system. However, the Ertiga is likely to continue with the 7-seat layout as usual.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift – Engine Updates

Sources suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Facelift is likely to carry over the same engine from the current-generation Ertiga. Powering the Ertiga is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The engine produces 105 Hp of power and 138 Nm of torque and comes paired to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox. Maruti Suzuki does not offer a diesel variant on the Ertiga. However, the brand offers the MPV with a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) bi-fuel powertrain option.
