Written by Nizam Shaikh

Mahindra is testing the new-generation Scorpio in the Indian market. The brand has been developing the Scorpio alongside the XUV700 flagship SUV. Now, the brand is likely to be ready to launch the new Scorpio as images have emerged of the SUV during a TVC shoot. This also leads us to believe that the all-new Scorpio will make its debut in the first half of 2022. Earlier speculation was that the brand will traditionally launch the new Mahindra Scorpio in October 2022.

Mahindra Scorpio – Front Fascia Spyshots

Spy images reveal the front fascia of the Mahindra Scorpio. According to the images leaked on the internet, the new Scorpio will come with a new-generation slated grille with polished chrome accents. The grille is likely to be similar to the new Mahindra XUV700 and come with the new Mahindra Twin Peaks logo. The Mahindra Scorpio also comes with an aggressive front bumper that has fog lamp pods with chrome trims.

The SUV also features a silver skid plate. In addition to this, the Mahindra Scorpio also comes with sleeker headlamp units which appear to draw their design inspiration from the Mahindra Alturas G4 and dual-tone machine cut alloy wheels. The Scorpio is also likely to come with a sloping bonnet, a progressive roofline butch rear end and high ground clearance.

Mahindra Scorpio – Powertrain

Powering the Mahindra Scorpio is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. The engine produces 158 Bhp of power paired with a manual or automatic gearbox option. The new Scorpio is also likely to come with a four-wheel-drive option. The car is also likely to offer the latest electronic features. Speculation is that the new Scorpio will also come with a petrol powertrain borrowed from the Mahindra Thar.

More details of the new Mahindra Scorpio are likely to emerge in the near future.
