2022 Mahindra Scorpio 4×4 – Details Leaked

Written by Rohit Tonapi

Mahindra’s Scorpio has been on sale in the Indian market for almost 20 years now. It is also fair to say Indians love it. The Scorpio stars in many movies as well. Usually, we can see the Scorpio as a police car, a support car for politicians in white colour and a gangster’s car in black colour. For the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Scorpio, Mahindra will transform it and also give it a new name. Even though the company has not revealed many details, we keep getting new leaks as the launch nears. The latest leak is about the Scorpio N’s 4×4 drivetrain.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio 4×4 – New Leaked Details

According to sources, the new 2022 Scorpio N will come with a part-time 4×4 system. This is unlike the 1st-gen Toyota Fortuner, which had a full-time 4×4 system. The system in the Scorpio N will also get a transfer case with 4-high and 4-low gear ratios, adding to its off-road capabilities. One can change these modes using the buttons on either side of a rotary knob for the terrain select options. Mahinda’s new part-time 4WD will be called the 4Xplore.

The 4Xplore terrain select dial will have Rough Road, Snow, Mud and Water modes. Furthermore, Mahindra has also given it a manually lockable rear differential. All this off-road hardware will be available only with the diesel engine options with manual and automatic gearboxes. Similar to the XUV700 AWD, the 2022 Scorpio is supposed to have a full-time AWD system. A full-time AWD system has its advantages. It is able to monitor traction levels for all wheels and manage the engine torque for more traction at all the wheels.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio N – Competition

Jumping from the C-segment to D-segment SUVs, the 2022 Scorpio N will compete with many SUVs, including its sibling, the XUV700. Other competitors include Tata Safari, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Alcazar, etc. Mahindra is claiming that the Scorpio N will offer the highest and most commanding seating position in the class. We also expect Mahindra to price the SUV aggressively. Hence, the 2022 Scorpio N, with its new avatar, features and tech, could do well in the Indian market.
