Lexus has launched the updated Lexus ES 300h in India. The sedan is available in 2 trims – the Exquisite variant, priced at Rs. 59.71 lakhs and the Luxury variant, which is priced at Rs. 65.81 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The luxury sedan is made in India, making it one of the only four countries manufacturing any Lexus models. The local assembly started back in 2020.
2022 Lexus ES 300h updates
This time around, there are no significant changes. However, Lexus has made some enhancements to the exterior and the interior. These include the updated Lexus emblem, extra storage spaces, better accessibility of the centre console, a new dynamic voice recognition and an improved hands-free operation of the boot lid. Further, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto are now standard across all Lexus models.
The ES 300h has been globally on sale since 1989. It is also the Japanese luxury brand’s most popular offering in India as well as abroad. Back in March 2022, Lexus celebrated five years of Indian operations. The ES 300h received a buyback program called “BuyBack Promise”. Under this, Lexus promised up to 60% of the car’s residual value in the used car market.
2022 Lexus ES 300h Engine & Transmission
In India, the car is powered by the same petrol hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine along with an electric motor. The engine develops 176 BHP @ 5,700 rpm and a peak torque of 221 Nm @ 3,600-5,200 rpm. The electric motor is rated at 118 BHP and 202 Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT). This is sufficient to propel the luxury sedan from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. The top speed is limited to 180 km/h.
2022 Lexus ES 300h Comfort
In terms of comfort, the Lexus is capable of being driven purely by the electric motor at low speeds. The acoustics feature a 3-layer noise absorbing material, thereby improving both the noise absorption as well as noise insulation. An enhanced rear suspension gets more rigid suspension member braces. These offer a superior steering stability and better driving sensation when undertaking high-speed lane manoeuvres.
