2022 Kawasaki Z900RS gets new paint inspired by Z1

Kawasaki has launched the new 2022 Z900RS in the North American market. The motorcycle features a new Candy Tone Blue paint with Gold stripes that draw inspiration from the Kawasaki Z1 from the 1970s. The 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS comes at the price of USD 11,499 MSRP. The Kawasaki Z900RS was also available in the Indian market but discontinued due to insufficient sales numbers. 

Design & Styling

The Kawasaki Z900 features a rounded headlamp with a multi-faceted reflector beam and twin-pot instruments cluster. The retro-classic motorcycle features an almond-shaped fuel tank, flat bench seat with pleated upholstery and a sleek tail section. The bike comes with chopped fenders, upright handlebars and relaxed mid-set footpegs. The Kawasaki Z900RS also features rounded mirrors, multispoke alloy wheels, and a chrome finish on the 4-into-1 exhaust system.

The authentic retro styling on the Z900RS contrasts with the modern engine technology of the motorcycle. The Kawasaki Z900RS comes with a 948cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC engine. The engine features a DFI (Electronic Fuel Injection System) with Keihin 36mm throttle bodies and TCBI with an electronic advanced ignition system. The motor comes with a 6-speed return type transmission and produces 108 Bhp of power and 98 Nm of torque.

Mechanical Specifications

The motorcycle rides on a tubular diamond frame and features adjustable compression and rebound upside-down front fork suspension and horizontal back-link swingarm with stepless adjustable rebound damping. The bike also comes with 300mm dual disc brakes on the front and a 250mm single disc on the rear. The brakes are equipped with ABS for safety.

The 2022 Kawasaki Z900RS features an Ergo-Fit chassis, Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), Eco Riding Indicator, and 12 months of warranty in North America.

In the Indian market, the brand only sells the standard Kawasaki Z900. But retro-classic aficionados can purchase the Kawasaki W800, which starts at INR 7.19 lakh ex-showroom.
