2022 Jeep Meridian SUV for India revealed, coming soon

Jeep has finally unveiled the Meridian SUV in full at a virtual event. The brand previously revealed that the Meridian nomenclature draws inspiration from the meridian 77-degree that connects the most beautiful states and cultures in India. The Jeep Meridian is completely ‘Made in India’, showing a strong market relevance. The Jeep Meridian will come with a three-row option, which is currently a popular segment in today’s date.

Jeep Meridian – Exteriors

The Jeep Meridian comes with a prominent grille on the front with signature Jeep styling. The SUV also comes with a set of sleek headlamps along with knurled accents. The fog lamps on the Meridian have been integrated into the bumper, and the SUV features squared-off wheel arches giving it a butch look. On the rear, the Jeep Meridian draws inspiration from the Grand Wagoneer, offering sleek wraparound taillamps with segmented LEDs. The Meridian also comes with a healthy dose of chrome, all around the SUV. The car also comes with front and rear bash plates. The Jeep Meridian also comes with 18-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels.

Jeep Meridian – Interiors

On the inside, Jeep offers the Meridian with a multi-layered dashboard featuring hydrographic panels, soft-touch panels and liquid chrome accents. The SUV also comes with contoured seating with ventilation and Black & Emperador brown leather upholstery. The Meridian comes with a 2+3+2 (7-seater) configuration with ergonomically designed for easier ingress and egress. Jeep has gone through a lot of research going through the angles of the seats to make them comfortable for the customers. The brand is also likely to offer a captain seat option in the future, however, the launch timeline for the captain seat model has not been revealed.

The Jeep Meridian comes with Uconnect 5 system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The infotainment comes powered by nine high definition Alpine Sound System offering a deeper bass range. The motorcycle also comes with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android AutoTM, a 360-degree Camera System, and a 10.25-inch Digital Driver Information Display (DID) offers convenience to the occupants. 

Jeep Meridian – Powertrain

The brand has not completely revealed the powertrain details of the Jeep Meridian. However, the brand has revealed that the Meridian will only come with a diesel engine option. The brand revealed that the Meridian SUV would come with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor with manual and 9-speed automatic transmission and an advanced 4×4 driveline and will have the American brand’s legendary off-road capability.

The Meridian also features the best in segment manoeuvrability with the lowest parking torque at 2.2 Nm and 4.3 Nm of dynamic torque, along with the lowest turning radius of 5.7-metres offering the best steering control. The SUV also comes with a top speed is 198 kmph and is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in just 10.8 seconds, the Jeep Meridian has the best in segment acceleration.

Jeep Meridian – Top Features

The Jeep Meridian is composed of 63% Hot Stamped Parts and High Strength Steel. The Meridian claims to come with higher rigidity, reduced noise & vibration. The Jeep Meridian will also come with a first-in-segment independent front and rear suspension with a first-in-segment independent front and rear suspension. The car also gets Hydraulic Rebound Stopper (HRS), offering composed Driving Dynamics. 

The car also features a powered liftgate with an 80-degree door opening angle and a programmable height. The SUV also gets an 840mm couple distance between the 1st and 2nd row and 780 mm between the 2nd and 3rd rows. The Meridian is also the most spacious SUV within the segment and comes with a multi-zone climate control system. The car also features a dedicated third-row AC-evaporator unit and thermo-acoustic cabin insulation. Jeep claims that Meridian features the best cooling performance in its class, up to 30% faster than competitors.
