2022 Jeep Meridian Review

Jeep recently pulled the covers off the much-awaited three-row SUV in the Indian market. Christened – Meridian, the name draws its inspiration from the meridian 77-degree. Meridian 77-degree East is the line of longitude that extends from the north pole to the south pole, passing through the Arctic Ocean, Asia, Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean and Antarctica. The line also connects the most beautiful states and, in turn, one of the most delightful cultures of India. The SUV also features the latest in-car technologies and the American brand’s butch yet beautiful design language. In this video review, we bring you all the details of the Jeep Meridian so that you can make an informed buying decision.

Jeep Meridian – Variants and Price

Jeep has revealed that the brand will sell the Meridian SUV in two variants – Limited and Limited (O). Furthermore, the Meridian will come with a single-engine option and two gearbox and driveline combinations. A 4×2 front-wheel drive (FWD) with 6-speed manual transmission and 9-speed automatic gearbox option is available on both Limited and Limited (O) trims. In addition to this, a 4×4 all-wheel driveline with a 9-speed automatic option is also available on the Limited (O) variant. Jeep has not yet announced the pricing of the Meridian, but the market launch is expected soon.

Jeep Meridian – Off-Road Capabilities

The Jeep brand is synonymous with off-road abilities. The American brand is famous for producing Go-Anywhere vehicles, and the Meridian is no less. The 7-seater SUV features state-of-the-art off-roading capabilities such as Selec Terrain, Dynamic Steering Torque, Frequency Selective Damping Suspension and Hill Decent Control. The 4×4 model also gets a Crawl Ratio of 20.426.

In addition to this, the Jeep Meridian also comes with a 20.7-degree approach angle, 20-degree breakover angle and 22.6-degree departure angle for the 6MT FWD. While the 9AT FWD comes with a 21-degree approach angle, 20.8-degree breakover angle and 22.6-degree departure angle. On the other hand, the 9AT with AWD comes with a 21.5-degree approach angle, 23.1-degree breakover angle and 23.6-degree departure angle. The SUV also comes with 203mm of ground clearance and 406mm of water fording capability.

Jeep Meridian – Powertrain

Powering the Jeep Meridian is a 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine. The engine produces 170 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque. The brand will offer only an oil motor on the Jeep Meridian and does not plan to bring a petrol engine.

Jeep Meridian – Safety

The premium SUV comes with safety features such as 6-airbags, an all-speed traction control system, a 360-degree camera, hill start assist, an electronic stability programme, an electric parking brake and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Jeep Meridian also gets all-wheel disc brakes as standard. In addition to this, the car also gets automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers.

Jeep Meridian – Top Features

The Jeep Meridian sports LED projector headlamps, LED taillamps and LED front cornering foglamps. Jeep offers 18-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels shod in all-season tyres. The SUV also comes with a dual-pane sunroof, power tailgate and bright roof rails. On the inside, the premium SUV comes with Emperador Brown leather seats, dual-zone climate control and third-row cooling with controls. The Meridian also features a 7-inch instrument cluster on the Limited trim and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster on the Limited (O) variant. Also, the car gets a UConnect5 10.1-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and wireless charging.

Jeep Meridian – Dimensions

The Jeep Meridian SUV measures 4769mm in length, 1859mm in width and 1698mm in height. The SUV comes with a wheelbase of 2782mm and a track width of 1580mm at the front and 1590mm at the rear. The Meridian also offers 481-litres of boot space with five occupants and 170-litres of boot space with seven occupants. The car also comes with 31-litre of storage bin space in the interiors.
