2022 Honda Civic sedan prototype revealed, looks good?

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Honda has revealed the 2022 Civic executive sedan in the prototype form. The Honda Civic is expected to make its market debut next year in the international market. The 2022 Honda Civic replicates almost all the design features that were leaked in design patents, that were published under the ownership of Honda Motor Co. at the Australian Intellectual Property Department. When the production-spec Honda Civic is launched, the iconic executive sedan will be in its 11th generation. Though the 10th generation Civic which currently retails in the Indian market looks quite radical as compared to the next-generation model. But, looks are subjective and the new Civic takes the minimalist approach both on the outside as well as on the interiors.

On the outside, the 2022 Honda Civic prototype features a gloss black finished horizontally slatted grille that seamlessly integrates the LED light clusters that incorporate an inverted tick-mark daytime running light, a large lower radiator grille with gloss black finish grille design, sharp splitter effect on the front apron, gloss black wing-shaped structures, 5-twin-split-spoke alloy wheels finished in black, subtle crease lines on the bonnet, black finished ORVMs, a crisp shoulder line that runs all the way to the waist of the car, another character line that begins from the lower part of the front door and mingles with the rear bumper, flared wheel arches, a coupe-like roofline, wraparound tail lamps with a smoked effect and light signatures that reverberate with the front, a boot-lid integrated spoiler and dual exhaust outlets that flank the rear bumper.

On the inside, design renderings of the 2022 Honda Civic reveal a cleaner, uncluttered approach with a multilayered dashboard that features a free-standing large infotainment display in the centre, a minimalist steering wheel with controls, fully digital instrumentation, rotary air-conditioning controls, dashboard fascia incorporated air-con vents with micropore mesh finish, a raised transmission tunnel with a chunky gear shift selector, cupholders and cubby holes.

The brand has not yet announced any details in terms of the powertrain but the Honda Civic and are expected to be revealed soon. In the North American market, the Honda Civic is likely to be unveiled early next year. The next-generation executive sedan is also expected to arrive in the Indian market. The non-eccentric design is likely to gain more popularity than the radical current-generation Civic in India.
