American automobile manufacturer General Motors’ GMC division has introduced the Hummer EV in the North American market with a starting price of USD 79,995 MSRP and goes up to USD 112,595 MSRP for the Hummer EV Edition1, which has already been sold out. The 100% electric-powered Hummer will be available in 4 variants – Hummer EV2, Hummer EV2x, Hummer EV3x and Hummer EV Edition1. The initial availability will be from Fall 2021 and the Edition1 will be the first to make the market launch followed by the EV3x in Fall 2022, the EV2x in Spring 2023 and the EV2 in Spring 2024.
The Hummer EV is powered by a three e4WD drive systems electric motors coupled to advanced Ultium batteries that can provide an estimated range of about 350+ miles (Over 560 km) on a single charge. GM also estimates that the Hummer EV will be capable of producing 1000 Hp of power and an eye-popping 15,592 Nm of torque capable of accelerating the Supertruck to 96 kmph from a standstill in just 3 seconds. The Hummer EV will also be capable of recharging using an 800V DC fast chargers up to 350kW to enable nearly 100 miles of range in 10 minutes of charging.
The Hummer EV is also capable of lowering itself to improve the centre of gravity and enhanced aerodynamics at low speeds while raising the suspension a whopping 6 inches while off-roading, using the Extract Mode. The Hummer EV comes with specially engineered 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory with the OD optimised to take 37-inches if the customer wants to upgrade. But the revolutionary offroad features is the CrabWalk. The Hummer EV utilises its all-wheel steering capability to drive diagonally enabling the Supertruck to traverse tight trails and crawl out of tough obstacles.
The Hummer EV also comes with UltraVision with up to 18 cameras and SuperCruise a driver assistance feature that offers hands-free driving with automatic lane changing on nearly 200,000 compatible roads. It also comes with an infinity roof, modular sky panels, a 12.3-inch instruments console, a centrally mounted 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bose 14-speaker audio system with Centerpoint Electric with Vehicle Sound Enhancement (EVSE) and dual-tone interiors with Tech Bronze accents.
The highly advanced batteries are developed at the company’s Battery Lab in Warren, Michigan and the GMC Hummer EV along with multiple other models will be produced at the brand’s Hometown, the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant where the company has invested around USD 2.2 billion.
