Yamaha has introduced the all-new 2021 MT-09 naked streetfighter in the United States market priced at USD 9,399 MSRP. The 2021 Yahama MT-09 features all-new styling, new equipment and a new larger displacement Euro5 emission-compliant powertrain. The new Yamaha MT-09 also comes with a newly developed lightweight aluminium frame, new KYB front fork and KYB rear shock and a newly developed highly rigid swing-arm among other changes for 2021.

The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is powered by a Euro5 compliant 890cc liquid-cooled three-cylinder, four-valve-per-cylinder DOHC engine with YCC-T fuel injection and a downdraft intake system along with a compression ratio of 11.5:1 for stronger power and torque characteristics. The motor develops 117 Bhp of power and 93 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox.

The brand has redesigned almost all the fundamental engine parts such as the crankshaft, camshafts, crankcase, pistons and connecting rods and even the fuel delivery system has been completely redesigned. The injectors are now connected to the throttle valve side instead of the cylinder head. The brand has employed lightweight forged pistons, fracture-split forged connecting rods, offset and direct-plated ceramic-composite cylinder bores, a new symmetrical exhaust muffler with dual outlets that produce a low-frequency exhaust note as low speeds, a new intake system that provides a linear response, assist and slipper clutch and the transmission ratios have been optimised that provide slightly higher gear ratios for 1st and 2nd gear.

The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 comes with a new chassis and bodywork that extensively incorporate weight-reducing technologies and save up to 3.6 kgs when compared to the predecessor. The new frame is manufactured using the latest in Yamaha’s controlled filling (CF) die-casting technology. Furthermore, the brand has employed a new swing-arm with a welded box shape aluminium plate to achieve both high rigidity and is 250g lighter than the predecessor. The 2021 MT-09 rides on 41 mm KYB inverted front fork adjustable for compression, preload and rebound damping. The rear also comes adjustable for preload and rebound damping. Complementing the lightweight chassis and swing-arm are lightweight alloy wheels manufactured using Yamaha-exclusive spin forging technology that offers a notable 11% decrease in the momentum of inertia at the rear.

The Yamaha MT-09 comes with features such as a redesigned headlamp cluster with a single projector lamp and two bar-style LED daytime running lights, raised and typically MT style tank, sharp tank extensions, straight bench seat, a sleek tail section and midship mounted exhaust system with outlets pointing towards the ground. The 2021 MT-09 features a 3.5-inch full-colour TFT display, Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) ride-by-wire throttle with electronic throttle valve control, Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (ASPG) that produces varying degrees of resistance for a natural throttle feel, bidirectional Quick Shift System, 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Brake Control (BC) system with ABS, Lift Control System (LIF), Lean-Angle-Sensitive Traction Control System (TCS) and a MotoGP-developed Slide Control System (SCS).

The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is also expected to enter the Indian market soon.
