Volkswagen has introduced the 2021 Polo facelift in the European market. The new Volkswagen Polo features new exterior and interior features along with new trim levels. The brand also announces that the Polo will go on sale in the European market by the end of 2021. Speculations are that the pre-facelift model could make it to the Indian market around the same time.
New Features
The Volkswagen Polo facelift draws inspiration from the mark8 Golf. The facelift model features new headlamps with LED light strips that extend into the grille. The taillamps are also LED units with extensions into the tailgate. The LED headlamps can also also be upgraded to an Adaptive Matrix system similar to the Passat. The Polo also comes with IQ. Drive Travel Assist, with adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance. The hatch also features a basic lane guidance system as standard on all models.
Interiors
While the layout remains the same, the Polo now comes with Virtual Cockpit, a fully digital instruments cluster. The climate control also features a touch-sensitive panel. The infotainment system measures 9.2-inch on higher variants and comes with the latest generation connectivity features and telematics. The Polo also gets wireless smartphone charging.
Powertrain
The 2021 Volkswagen Polo will come with four engine options. All engines will be the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder but in different states of tune. The range starts from a naturally-aspirated 79 Hp motor and goes all the way up to a 109 Hp turbo-petrol engine with a DSG gearbox. Volkswagen will also offer the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) bi-fuel option in certain markets. The brand will reveal details in the near future.
Polo in India
Volkswagen is currently concentrating on the SUVW strategy and plans to launch the Taigun, T-Roc, Tiguan and the Tiguan Allspace in India. But speculations are that the 6th generation Polo in the pre-facelift avatar could also make it to the Indian market.
