2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V with Riding Modes Review

TVS recently launched the 2021 Apache RTR 200 4V at the price of INR 1.28 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The Apache RTR 200 4V comes with first-in-segment features such as adjustable suspension front suspension, riding modes and TVS SmartXConnect. We got the chance to thoroughly test the Apache RTR 200 4V and in this comprehensive video review, we bring all the details of the motorcycle enabling you to make an informed buying decision.

Powertrain

Powering the Apache RTR 200 4V is an oil-cooled 197.75cc single-cylinder 4-stroke, 4-valve engine with RT-Fi (Race-Tuned Fuel Injection) technology that produces a maximum 20.5 PS of power at 8,500 RPM and 17.25 Nm of torque at 7,500 RPM. The engine comes with a 5-speed gearbox and slipper & assist clutch that does not let the rear wheel lock-up during aggressive downshifts. The engine is BS6 emission compliant and features three riding modes – Rain, Urban and Sport as well as a first in segment Glide Through Technology that allows creeping in traffic without any throttle input.

Riding Modes

The Apache RTR 200 4V is the first motorcycle in the segment to offer riding modes that tune the motorcycle differently playing a critical role in delivering the ride experience. The Rain mode, for example, primes the ABS to deliver strong feedback on the brake lever and provides maximum electronic intervention. The motorcycle produces 17.3 PS of power in Rain mode. In the Urban mode, the motorcycle optimises the ABS for quick reactions and the electronic intervention is set accordingly. The motorcycle produces the same 17.3 PS of power and 16.52 Nm of torque in Urban mode. The Sport mode provides full power delivery and the ABS is set to deliver the least intervention and more slip. This offers more control to the rider. The power delivery in sport mode is 20.5 PS and 17.25 Nm. In Urban & Rain modes the motorcycle restricted to a top speed of 105 kmph and in Sport mode, the Apache RTR 200V will do a top speed of 127 kmph.

Features

The 2021 Apache RTR 200 4V comes with features such as claw-shaped LED position lamps, stacked LED headlamps, a new racing decal and graphics along with a new Matte Blue colour inspired by the TVS One-Make Championship race bikes. The Apache RTR 200 4V features a split cradle synchro-stiff chassis with adjustable Showa front fork suspension and adjustable rear monoshock, adjustable levers, petal disc brakes for better heat dissipation and dual-channel ABS with RLP (Rear Lift-OFF Protection).

TVS SmartXConnect

The Apache RTR 200 4V also comes with TVS SmartXConnect, a Bluetooth enabled system that comes with features such as turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call or SMS notification on the console, race telemetry data, lean angle through the corners using a gyroscopic sensor, crash alert mode with automatic emergency contact notification, low-fuel alert and directions to the nearest petrol station and it comes with a dedicated button on the handlebar toggles lap times as well as triggers other features on the system.
