2021 Tata Tigor EV Review

Tata recently added a new fully electric sedan to the Indian market, the Tigor EV with Ziptron technology. The electric vehicle space is currently developing in the Indian market. But factors such as the price and range anxiety still remain a deterring factor. The lack of charging infrastructure also plays a role in the adoption of electric vehicles. But Tata has tried to address all these with their new electric vehicle, the Tigor EV. 

Tata launched the new Tigor EV with the Ziptron powertrain at the starting price of INR 11.99 lakh ex-showroom. The car comes with a 306 km ARAI-tested range and is capable of CCS2 fast charging and charging at home or office using a 15A domestic socket. These factors give the Tata Tigor EV an upper hand among other Battery Electric Vehicles. Tata Tigor EV – Powertrain, Battery & Charging Time

Powering the Tata Tigor EV is a 55kW electric motor capable of producing 170 Nm of torque on demand. The new Ziptron electric motor pairs with a 26 kWh battery pack that claims to return a range of 306 km on a single charge according to the generous ARAI test cycle. Users can recharge the EV at a DC fast charger from 0% state of charge to 80% state of charge in approximately one hour. Charging from 0-80% at home, using a 15A plug-point takes 8.5 hours.

Tata Tigor EV – Safety Features

The Tata Tigor EV has received four-star safety certification from Global NCAP. The Tigor EV comes with safety features such as dual airbags and ABS with EBD. The EV also comes with Corner Stability Control, Hill ascent assist, and hill descent assist. The EV also complies with ODB 64 test standards and gets an IP67-rated battery and powertrain. The battery also comes with AIS – 048 standards for nail penetration at the cell level. 

Tata Tigor EV – Features

Tata offers a 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with iRA connected car suite. The connected car technology offers 30+features, including remote commands, remote cooling, charging status, time to full charge, intrusion alert, and remote diagnostics. The car also features a dark theme cabin with blue accents on the dashboard trim, fabric seat upholstery with a tri-arrow design theme, a rotary drive select knob, control mounted steering wheel, four speakers and four tweeters, projector headlamps, LED combination taillamp, etc.
