2021 Tata Punch Review With Off-Road Test

Tata Motors recently introduced the Punch micro SUV in the Indian market. The car offers SUV styling and comfort along with the practicality of a hatchback. The Tata Punch is the brand’s second car based on Tata’s ALFA-Arc (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, the first being the popular Altroz hatchback. Now, the brand has commenced accepting bookings on the Tata Punch with the amount of INR 21,000. The brand is also likely to launch the Punch pretty soon.

Now, even before its market launch, we got the chance to thoroughly test the Tata Punch micro-SUV both on the road and off it. In this video review, we bring you the design highlights and features of the Punch. Also, we have a separate video for the off-road capabilities of the micro-SUV in both manual and AMT transmission options.

Tata Punch – Top Features

The Tata Punch comes with features such as projector headlamps, LED DRLs and LED taillamps. The brand also offers full-body claddings and roof rails, reiterating its SUV status. The Punch also features diamond-cut, dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. Thanks to the ALFA-Arc, the Tata Punch also comes with the signature 90-degree opening doors for easy ingress-egress. Tata also offers a semi-digital instruments cluster, a 7-inch Harman infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple Carplay and iRA connected features. The SUV also features Engine Drive Modes – City & Eco, a Traction Pro system and a Cruise Control system.

Tata Punch – Technical Specifications

Powering the Tata Punch is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated Revotron petrol engine with the brand’s latest Dyna-Pro technology. The new engine features a ram-air intake system that helps improve the performance and efficiency of the engine. The motor produces 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. The Punch is offered in both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT automatic gearbox.

The Punch has a compact footprint with butch SUV-like looks and features. The car measures 3827mm in length, 1742mm in width, and 1615mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2445mm. The Punch also offers a high ground clearance of 190mm and sizeable 366-litre boot space. The Punch comes with a 20.3° approach angle, 37.6° departure angle and 22.2° ramp over angle. The car is also capable of wading through 370mm of water. 

Tata Punch – Safety

The brand offers Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Sway Control and Corner Safety Control. The brand also provides Child Seat ISOFIX Anchor Points, Parametric Alarm System and seat belt reminders for safety.
