2021 Skoda Superb to get new features, brochure leaked before launch

Skoda is gearing up to launch the new 2021 Skoda Superb in the Indian market. The Czech brand is expected to launch the sedan by the end of this month and key details of the new vehicle have emerged on the internet giving us an early glimpse of what to expect from one of the only two D segment sedan’s surviving the Indian market. The 2021 Superb comes with changes focussed on the interiors and the exteriors as well as the powertrain are expected to remain unchanged. 

In May 2020, Skoda introduced the Superb facelift and the 2021 model is expected to carry forward the same design with mild changes to the exterior. But compared to the 2020 facelift the 2021 model is expected to come with a completely revamped interiors. Leaked documents suggest that the new 2021 Superb features a similar dashboard layout but comes with all-new equipment. 

Starting with the steering wheel, the 2021 model features the brand’s new design two-point steering wheel with controls on the L&K model and three-point steering on the Sportline variant. The driver’s display now comes with a fully digital layout that the brand calls Virtual Cockpit. The instrumentation will be equipped with navigation and multiple layouts. The new Superb also comes with hand-free parking, 360-degree area view, etc. 

The size of the central infotainment system is expected to remain the same but the brand is expected to update it with a revised interface with MIB3 operating system and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Smartlink capability. The new car also comes with USB Type-C ports and wireless smartphone charging. 

In the engine department, the brand has updated the powertrain to BS6 emission-standards and the same unit is expected to be carried over on the 2021 model. The Skoda Superb is offered with a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque coupled to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The brand does not offer a diesel-powered variant.
