2021 Skoda Octavia launch in April, deliveries from May

Skoda recently introduced the Kushaq SUV in the Indian market which will be making its market debut in the coming months but now the brand’s Director of Sales, Service & Marketing, Zac Hollis has revealed through social media channels that the new Skoda Octavia will make its market debut in the month of April 2021 with deliveries beginning from May 2021. The Kushaq SUV is expected to arrive in June 2021 with deliveries beginning after its launch.

New-Gen Skoda Octavia

The new Skoda Octavia features the brand’s new design language and is also longer and wider than the predecessor. The brand has also axed the four-eyed headlamp design configuration for sleek contemporary units, new-design L-shaped LED taillamps, new-generation Skoda radiator grille, straight cuts and crease lines on the sides, rounded wheel arches, alloy wheels, etc.

Features

The new Skoda Octavia features a new Skoda two-spoke steering wheel, Virtual Cockpit fully digital instruments cluster which also integrates navigation, new generation touchscreen infotainment system which is likely to come with features such as smartphone connectivity via Apple Carplay, Android Auto as well as Skoda’s latest-generation telematics, Voice Assistant, shift-by-wire gear selector, multi-zone climate control etc.

Powertrain

Powering the Skoda Octavia in India is likely to be a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that makes 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque matched to an automatic gearbox. Skoda could also offer a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 190 PS of output on higher-spec models. The former engine also powers the Skoda Kushaq SUV but Skoda will not be bringing a TDI diesel engine for the Octavia in India.

Competition

The Skoda Octavia is likely to come with a price tag of around the INR 18 lakh to 23 lakh mark and competes with the likes of the Hyundai Elantra in India. The brand also used to compete with the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla which have been discontinued in India.
