2021 Skoda Kushaq Drive Review

In March 2021 Skoda Auto pulled the covers off the new Kushaq SUV in a global premiere. Later that brand also announced that Skoda has begun production on the Kushaq at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India PVT LTD production facility in Chakan, Pune. The Czech car manufacturer also announced that the brand will commence deliveries on the Kushaq SUV from July 2021.

We got our hands on the Skoda Kushaq and here is a comprehensive review of the SUV. Skoda Kushaq – Name & Platform

The name Kushaq is derived from the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit. The name literally means King or Emperor, which coincides with the SUV flaring stance. The Skoda Kushaq is underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0-IN platform, which is the Indianised version of the MQB-A0 (Modular Transverse Matrix) platform. Skoda has leveraged the help of local engineers to localise 95% of the vehicle for the Indian market as well as sales abroad.

Skoda Kushaq – Engine Specifications

Powering the Kushaq SUV are two options from the TSI engine family. The SUV comes with a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that makes 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque. Another option is the 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The brand also offers 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Automatic) gearbox, depending on the variant.

Skoda Kushaq – Dimensions

The Skoda Kushaq measures 4225mm in length, 1760mm in width, 1612mm in height, and comes with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. The SUV also comes with a 385-litre of boot space. The long-wheelbase on the Kushaq offers roomier interiors on the front as well as rear seats.

Skoda Kushaq – Top Features

The Skoda Kushaq comes with features such as LED headlamps, LED daytime running and LED combination taillamps. The SUV also gets Skoda’s new-generation radiator grille, clamshell bonnet, 17-inch alloy wheels shod in Good Year tyres. On the inside, the Kushaq comes with the ventilated front seats10-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto integration and the brand’s latest-generation MySkoda Connect telematics, automatic climate control etc.

Skoda Kushaq – Launch

The Skoda Kushaq will make its market debut on 28th June 2021. Bookings on the Kushaq will also begin on the same date.
