Mini has revealed the 2021 Mini John Cooper Works facelift in the international market. The facelift model comes with mild changes to the exteriors and interiors as well as a sportier suspension setup. The brand has not yet revealed the price of the 2021 Mini John Cooper Works. But the car will be available in both a cabriolet and a three-door hatchback avatar.
MINI John Cooper – Design, Styling and Features
The 2021 Mini John Cooper Works comes with a new Zesty Yellow paint offered exclusively in the Convertible version. The facelift retains the rounded headlamps LED, a classic feature of the British brand. The car now gets a larger hexagonal radiator grille that ensures cool air reaches the power train and brakes. The facelift also features new side scuttles on the front side panels and a new rear bumper. The rear bumper comes with a newly designed diffuser and a central twin tipped exhausts. The convertible is also offered with a fabric top with Union Jack graphics.
On the inside, the Mini John Cooper Works features a newly designed 8.8-inch touchscreen display. The touch display comes with a black panel design, integrated audio and hotkeys as standard. The new operating system also features Live widgets, navigation, communication, audio programme, applications and vehicle functions. The facelift also features a racing car inspired cockpit on both models. The interiors also come with John Cooper Works sports seats, Nappa sports leather steering wheel, anthracite-coloured roof lining and a model-specific gearshift or gear selector lever.
Chassis, Brakes and Suspension
Both the convertible and hard-top came with a model-specific chassis technology which has been tuned with the racing expertise of John Cooper Works. This ensures stability in straight line and agility in corners. As standard equipment, both models come with a sporty suspension and high specification brakes. The brand employs a Brembo sports brake system with four-piston fixed caliper brakes and internally ventilated discs. The red brake callipers on the front also feature the John Cooper Works logo.
As standard, the brand also offers 17-inch John Cooper Works light-alloy wheels. 18-inch light-alloy wheels with new John Cooper Works Circuit Spoke 2-tone design are also available as an option. Also available as an option is an Adaptive Suspension with a new frequency-selective damper. The Adaptive Suspension works in 50 to 100 milliseconds smoothening out the pressure peaks in the damper. The Adaptive Suspension is also 10% stiffer than before which allows more steering precision and agility in corners.
Powertrain
The 2021 Mini John Cooper Works comes with a MINI TwinPower Turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. The engine develops 231 Hp of power and 320 Nm of torque. The car is available in a standard 6-speed manual gearbox as well as an optional 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
