Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has revealed the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S in the international market. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is the third-generation adventure motorcycle in the over-1000cc range of vehicles from the brand. The 1290 Super Adventure S boasts to be the brands most technologically rich Adventure motorcycle to roll off the company’s production-line in Mattighofen, Austria.
The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S comes with a completely new chassis that has been completely overhauled and enhanced to offer optimum weight distribution and agility. The steering head has been moved 15mm towards the rider and the front section of the engine has been re-located. The new chassis also features an open-lattice swingarm which is much more stable in corners as well as under acceleration. The subframe has also been revamped and offers a lower seat height to boost confidence for riders even with inseam challenges.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S also features a new 23-litre keyless-cap fuel tank, a 20mm adjustable two-tiered, customisable handlebar levers, a wind tunnel tested aerodynamically optimised windscreen which is also adjustable with a range of 55mm and lower mass centralization for refined weight balance and an optimised bodywork and panelling that has been carefully analyzed not to impede the riding sensation.
The adventure motorcycle features new-generation technologies such as an all-new 7-inch full TFT instrument cluster integrated with a new smartphone Connectivity Unit, clear aesthetic infographics, all-new switches, new set of hotkeys for quick selection of settings, a redesigned storage department with a USB charging socket, RAIN, STREET, SPORT, OFFROAD and an optional RALLY mode integrated with the motorcycle’s traction control system and for 2021 the main highlight is the all-new Bosch-developed radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control system with five-stage distance setting and overtake assist function fitted as standard.
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is powered by a revised LC8 series Euro5 compliant 1301cc V-Twin engine optimised with new thinner engine cases, a new oil circuit, a revised PANKL gear mechanism, an upgraded two-headed exhaust, a new upgraded Quickshifter+, and a new water/oil system. The engine produces 160 Hp of power and 138 Nm of torque. The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S also features a new-generation WP APEX Semi-Active suspension.
The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S will be available at KTM dealers in the international market (except North America) starting March 2021.
