Hyundai India confirms that the brand’s upcoming 7-Seater SUV will be the ‘Alcazar’. The Alcazar moniker was recently registered in India and now the brand released a teaser video that confirms that the Alcazar is going to make its global debut soon. The Hyundai Alcazar is likely to be a longer iteration of the Creta SUV and will come with 7-seats with an extra third row.

Hyundai Alcazar 7-seater

While Hyundai did not reveal any details of the Alcazar except that the new SUV will be a premium 7-seater, the internet in the recent past has been buzzing with pictures of a larger Creta SUV being tested on more than one occasion in the Indian market. The brand is likely to conduct the Global debut of the SUV from the Indian market owing to the high popularity of the Hyundai Creta 5-seater and the brand has announced that the Alcazar 7-seater will be a Made in India, Made First for India car.

Recent Spy Images

Recent spy images of the Alcazar also leads us to believe that the new 7-seater SUV will be based on the Hyundai Creta but comes with plenty of changes to the exterior of the SUV to help differentiate the 5-seater SUV from the new 7-seater iteration. The radiator grille design is likely to come with chrome studs giving the Alcazar an imposing look from the front and is also likely to come with a completely revamped haunch. The SUV also gets larger overhangs to accommodate the third-row of seats, but only time will tell if there are any changes to the wheelbase.

Powertrain

The Alcazar could use the same powertrain that features on the Creta SUV which gets three engine options and a wide range of gearbox options. Powering the Creta is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque, a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.
