2021 Honda Accord bids goodbye to manual, India waits for relaunch

Honda has revealed the 2021 Honda Accord for the United States market which now comes with refreshed new styling, and updated Hybrid variant, new Sport Special Edition trim and updates to the infotainment system. But most importantly, the Japanese brand has axed the manual transmission option on the new Accord and now the Saloon is only available with torque converter type automatic transmission alongside a CVT automatic. 

For 2021, the Honda Accord features a restyled grille with a chrome bar on top and horizontal slats with improved design on the front apron that integrates the Honda Sensing system’s radar unit. The Sport and above trims also feature new LED high and low-beam headlights flanking the sides with improved illumination. The front fog lamp openings are also smaller than before and the LX, EX-L and Touring trims all receive new alloy wheel designs, while the Sport, Sport Special Edition (SE) and Touring trims are available in a new Sonic Grey Pearl colour theme. 

On the inside, the 2021 model features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration now standard on all trims. In addition, the EX-L and Touring trims (EX and above on Hybrid models) get new wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The 2021 model Accord also comes with new Rear Seat Reminder as standard, while upper grades gain a new Low Speed Braking Control system.

The 2021 Honda Accord is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 192 Hp of power and 260 Nm of torque matched to a CVT automatic gearbox, standard in Accord LX, Sport, Sport SE and EX-L grades, while Accord Sport 2.0T and Touring are available exclusively with a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 252 Hp of power and 370 Nm of torque matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Accord Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-litre, DOHC, i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle inline-4-cylinder engine with AC Synchronous Permanent-Magnet Electric Motor that produces 212 Hp of power and 314 Nm of torque with an automatic transmission.

The 2021 Honda Accord will commence sale from today, the 13th of October 2020 in the US market with a starting price of USD 24,770 MSRP excluding handling and destination charges. The 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid is priced at USD 26,370 MSRP excluding handling and destination charge.
