Ducati just launched the new SuperSport 950 in the Indian market. The motorcycle positions itself in the sport-touring segment and competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX in the Indian market. In this technical comparison, we pin the 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 against the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX. 

2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 Vs. Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX – Price

The Ducati SuperSport 950 comes with a starting price tag of INR 13.49 lakh ex-showroom. The brand offers two variants of the SuperSport 950 – a standard and a SuperSport S, which comes with an INR 15.49 lakh ex-showroom price tag. The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX comes with a price tag of INR 11.40 lakh ex-showroom. 

2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 Vs. Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX – Engine Specifications

Powering the Ducati SuperSport 950 is a 937 cc Ducati Testastretta twin-cylinder engine. The liquid-cooled motor produces 110 Hp of power and 93 Nm of torque. Needless to say, the engine is now BS6 compliant. Kawasaki also upgraded their entire portfolio to match the latest BS6 standards. The Ninja 1000SX comes with a 1043cc in-line four-cylinder engine. The liquid-cooled motor produces 142 Hp of power and 111 Nm of torque. Both motorcycles come with 6-speed gearboxes and bidirectional quick shifters. 

2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 Vs. Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX – Chassis & Suspension 

The Ducati SuperSport 950 comes with a trellis frame with the engine as a stressed member. The motorcycle rides on a 43mm diameter Marzocchi upside-down front fork suspension and a Sachs monoshock on the rear. The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX comes with a twin-tube aluminium frame that rides on 41mm upside-down forks. The bike also comes with a horizontal back-link mono-suspension.

The Ducati SuperSport 950 comes with twin 320 mm front brake discs with Brembo M4-32 monobloc radial callipers. The bike also gets a Brembo self-bleeding radial pump on the front. The rear features a 245 mm diameter disc. The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX comes with 300mm twin discs with dual opposed 4-piston on the front and a single 250mm disc on the rear with a single-piston calliper.

The Ducati SuperSport 950 comes with Full-LED headlights and taillights as well as LED DRLs and indicators. The bike also comes with full-TFT colour TFT instrumentation and an optional Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). The Ducati SuperSport 950 also comes with Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO and a customizable Bosch Cornering ABS. The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX features all-LED lighting and 4.3-inch all-digital TFT colour instrumentation. The bike also gets Kawasaki Cornering Management Function, Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System and Electronic Cruise Control system.
