French car manufacturer, Citroen is planning to make its debut in the Indian market with the brand’s flagship SUV the Citroen C5 Aircross. The brand has taken the top-down approach for the Indian market which means the flagship vehicle will be introduced first followed by other Citroen vehicles. The Citroen C5 Aircross will come to India via the CKD route and will be assembled at the PSA-CK Birla joint production facility in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.

Citroen’s original plan of launching the car close to the 2020 festive season has been delayed due to the supply chain disruptions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. But recently the brand confirmed that the C5 Aircross will be introduced on 1st February 2021. The SUV has not been spotted testing sans camouflage which appears not from the factory and could be under final validations.

The spied Citroen C5 Aircross has been spotted in the Black paint theme and features dual-tone machine cut alloy wheels. The rear of the SUV features prominent tail lamps with signature Citroen light signatures and a concave shape, Citroen double chevron badge in the centre, tailgate integrated spoiler, piano black finish roof rails and bumper-mounted rear foglamps. The front of the C5 Aircross also features a double chevron radiator grille, stacked headlamps with LED and a dimpled bonnet.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that is likely to make around 180 Hp of power and is expected to be matched to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The brand is also expected to offer a petrol-powered C5 Aircross in the future. More details on the powertrain of the C5 Aircross is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
