In late April 2021, rumours suggested that Italian premium scooter and motorcycle manufacturer, Aprilia is planning to upgrade the SR 160. According to reports, the Aprilia SR 160 and SR 125 will come with new styling and features. But at the time there was no substantial evidence to support the hypothesis. But now, images of a new test mule of the Aprilia SR 160 have emerged on the internet. The images reveal new details on the scooter which will soon make its debut in the Indian market.

Aprilia SR 160 – Changes

Spy images show that the Aprilia SR 160 will come with a new digital instruments cluster. The instruments cluster appears to be similar to the one that does duty on the Aprilia SXR 160 maxi scooter. The cluster is likely to come with Bluetooth connectivity for mobile phones for features such as call and message notifications. The instruments cluster will also be able to display trip, fuel efficiency, range, distance to empty etc. The current instruments cluster is a simple speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge combination.

The keen-eyed would also notice that the test mule features a newly updated design for the pillion grabrails. Also, the exhaust heat shield is likely to come with a new design update. The brand is also likely to employ new features on the upcoming Aprilia SR 160. These features include LED lighting on the headlamps and taillamps, as well as the automatic start/stop technology. The brand may also work towards enhancing the design and engine efficiency as well as improve the power and torque.

Aprilia SR 160 – Technical Specifications

Powering the Aprilia SR 160 is a BS6 emission-compliant 160.03cc air-fan-cooled single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 11 PS of power and 11.6 Nm of torque. The scooter will retain the telescopic front fork suspension and coil-spring single shock on the rear. Stopping power comes from a disc brake with a hydraulic calliper on the front and a mechanical drum brake on the rear.
