Written by Nizam Shaikh

Yamaha has introduced a new 2020 model year Yamaha Bolt cruiser style motorcycle in the Japanese market at a base price of JPY 890,000 which converts to approximately INR 6,32,000 for the Bolt ABS model. The 2020 Yamaha Bolt is available in two variants the entry-level Bolt ABS and the top of the line Bolt R Spec ABS.

In terms of its design and styling, the 2020 Yamaha Bolt echoes with the outgoing model with only minor changes to its headlamp unit which now includes a new position lamp integrated into the headlamp unit. Other than this the Yamaha Bolt remains largely unchanged.

The bobber styled cruiser motorcycle features a rounded headlamp with a chrome housing and a chrome bezel, round LED taillamp, rounded indicator lamps, smoked LCD instruments display, chopped front and rear fenders, teardrop fuel tank, scooped step-up split seats, a blacked-out engine with machine finish on the cooling fins, satin silver accents on the air-filter box, and the low slung straight 2 into 1 exhaust pipe.

Powering the Yamaha Bolt is a 941cc 60-degree V-Twin-Cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, four-valve fuel-injected SOHC engine with a TCI transistor type ignition system that produces 54 ps of power and 80 Nm of torque matched to a constant-mesh 5-speed return type gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch.

For mechanical hardware, the Yamaha Bolt features a double-cradle frame that rides on conventional telescopic oil damped front fork suspension with 29-degrees caster angle and twin coil spring with gas-assist mounted on the rear swingarm. Braking comes from hydraulic disc brakes on both ends armed with ABS as a standard part of the pack. The Yamaha Bolt measures 2,290mm in length, 830mm in width and 1,120mm in height with a 1,570mm of the wheelbase, 130mm of ground clearance and a very accessible 690mm of saddle height.

The Yamaha Bolt ABS is priced at JPY 890,000 (INR 6,32,000) and the Yamaha Bolt R Spec ABS is priced at JPY 932,000 (INR 6,62,000). The Yamaha Bolt will go on sale in the international market by June 2020.
