Iconic British motorcycling brand Triumph has launched the 2020 Street Triple ‘R’ at the price of INR 8.84 lakh ex-showroom in the Indian market. The new Street Triple R is positioned under the Street Triple RS which was initially launched with a price tag of INR 11.13 lakh ex-showroom but a few weeks ago the brand hiked its pricing by INR 20,000.

The Street Triple R is the mid-spec model and has become more accessible and affordable streetfighter that features the new BS6 emission-compliant 765cc three-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 12-valve DOHC engine with multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection that produces 118 PS of power and 79 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine on the Street Triple R comes with a 7% reduction in rotational inertia that translates to a usable low and mid-range torque and responsive characteristics.

The airbox on the new Street Triple R has also been tweaked along with the new contemporary mid-ship mounted exhaust system that gives a crisper tone and deeper exhaust note. The ‘R’ model also features an assist and slipper clutch and short first and second gear ratios similar to the top-spec ‘RS’ model.

In terms of mechanical hardware, the Triumph Street Triple R also comes with high specification Brembo M4.32 four-piston monobloc front callipers with optimised brake pad compound that gives the rider improved brake feel with exceptional stopping power. The Street Triple R also features fully adjustable Showa 41mm upside down separate function big piston forks and Showa monoshock rear unit with piggyback reservoir. The Street Triple R also features a gullwing rear swingarm that delivers torsional resistance and stiffness and naturally provides with resistance to compression on the RSU under hard acceleration enabling the rider with higher corner speeds and precise chassis behaviour.
