2020 Skoda Vision IN compact-SUV for India – Interior sketch revealed

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Slated for a global debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in India between 5th – 12th February; Skoda has started revealing details of their upcoming compact-SUV. While the brand calls it compact, it is not a sub-4 metre SUV. Skoda has revealed that this Vision IN concept which will be revealed is going to measure 4.26 metres in length and it will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos. This all-new SUV has been developed specially for the Indian market, and the first interior sketch reveals some interesting details.

The interior sketch reveals a wide dashboard with a layered theme. It can be noted that Skoda is hinting at a healthy dose of contrast colours inside the cabin (seen here in orange) for the Vision IN SUV. The SUV will feature a new 3-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom design and the Skoda logo will be replaced with the ‘SKODA’ lettering. This Creta & Seltos rival SUV will come with a full digital speedometer cluster which will have a colour display along with a large floating touchscreen infotainment system. The interior cabin reveals bare minimum buttons, which could mean that even the AC controls could be feature touch / touchscreen applications. There seems to be a unique design treatment for the AC vents, speaker grille, front defogger grille, rimless rear view mirror, etc. Of course, one cal also note a centre armrest and an automatic gearbox knob which looks like a very small unit. There would also be chrome and crystal elements used inside for a premium feel.

The Skoda Vision IN concept will be based on the MQB A0 IN chassis which will be a modular architecture. Both Skoda and Volkswagen brands will make use of this new transverse matrix platform which has been heavily localised for cost efficiency. Under the India 2.0 project, this Skoda Vision IN would be the first all-new product to hit Indian showrooms and more cars will follow suit.
