There comes a time where every brand is at a make or break situation. Nissan is at that stage right now in India, and the Magnite compact-SUV is the best bet. Planned to be launched initially as a Datsun product, the new & upcoming Nissan Magnite is a sub-4 metre compact-SUV which will rival the long list of competitors including Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Toyota Urban Cruiser. BUT! Just because it was earlier planned under the Datsun brand, there is going to be a shock to this segment. Nissan is all set to launch the Magnite at prices starting from INR 5.5 lakh ex-showroom, undercutting the competition by a huge margin. To give the competition due credit, the quality on the inside will be a key differentiator.

The Nissan Magnite turbo-petrol variants will also get a 999cc engine, but this 1.0L motor will produce 100 PS of peak power @ 5000 RPM and 152 Nm of peak torque @ 2200-4400 RPM matched to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The manual model claims a mileage of 20 kmpl while the CVT will deliver 17.7 kmpl. Nissan reveals that the turbo petrol manual variants will weigh 1014 kg onwards and the CVT version will weigh 1039 kg onwards.
The Nissan Magnite will measure 3994mm in length, 1758mm in width, 1572mm in height, 2500mm in wheelbase, 205mm in ground clearance, 336L in boot space, 40L of fuel tank capacity along with making use of 16″ primary wheels (Steel / alloys) and 15″ spare wheel.
