2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE LWB SUV revealed in India

Mercedes-Benz preponed the launch of their new-generation GLE SUV in India because they sold out kits for the outgoing model ahead of schedule. Now, although the launch is a few weeks later, the German luxury car manufacturer has revealed the all-new GLE SUV with the launch timelines here in India. The Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d 4MATIC will be introduced in January 2020, the GLE 400d 4MATIC will come in April 2020 and the GLE 450 4MATIC will come in January 2020 as well. The new-generation will come to India in the Long Wheelbase version offering a lot more space compared to competition.

Powering the GLE 300d 4MATIC is a OM654 series, 4-cylinder, BSVI compliant diesel engine producing 245 HP of power @ 4200 RPM and 500 Nm of torque between 1600-2400 RPM. This model claims a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 7.2 seconds and has a top whack of 225 kmph. The engine is matched to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox with 4MATIC permanent AWD system.

The GLE 400d 4MATIC comes powered by a OM656 series, 6-cylinder diesel motor which is also BSVI compliant and will produce 330 HP of power between 3600 – 4000 RPM and a monstrous 700 Nm peak torque @ 1200 – 3000 RPM. The brand claims o-100 kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 245 kmph. This engine comes with 4MATIC permanent AWD system with VTD and matched to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The GLE 450 4MATIC comes with the M256 series, BSVI compliant, 6-cylinder petrol engine which produces 367 HP of peak power @ 5500 – 6100 RPM and 500 Nm of peak torque @ 1600 – 4500 RPM matched to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with 4MATIC permanent AWD with VTD. This model claims a o-100 kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph. With the 48V electric system, this variant gets a EQ boost over a short stint which equates to 250 Nm & 22 HP.

Standard Features on the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE includes LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, 19″ alloy wheels, Chrome accents with aluminum running boards, Dynamic Select with new off-road modes, Downhill Speed Regulation, Easy Pack tail gate, Sunroof, 4-zone climate control, Nappa leather on steering wheel, 12.3″ dual widescreen cockpit with touch function, Wireless charging, 64 colour ambient lights, Active park assist, Blind spot assist, 7 airbags, etc. The 400d & 450d will additionally be equipped with Multibeam LED headlamps, Variable Torque Distribution (VTD), Airmatic suspension with ADS+, 20″ alloy wheels, 360-degree camera, memory seats, electric rear seats, open pore Oak wood interior trims, etc.
