2020 Mahindra Thar bookings cross 15,000 mark, waiting period of 5 months

Mahindra has announced that the brand has garnered more than 15,000 bookings on the all-new Thar, since its launch on October 2, 2020. The brand has also revealed that 57% of all buyers of the 2020 Thar are first-time car buyers and a substantial share of all bookings are for the Automatic variants. The company also announced that the All-New Thar has also received over 65,000 enquiries and more than 8 lakh website visitors, till date. 

In phase 1, Mahindra commenced test drives in 18 cities with demo vehicles and the brand has 100 more cities on 10th of October 2020 with test drives for the rest of the country available from 15th October 2020. Deliveries on the new Mahindra Thar are slated to commence from 1st November 2020 but sources have revealed that the waiting period for the deliveries of the Thar is close to 5 months. 

The all-new Thar is offered in a dual trim concept – AX and LX. Both trims come with a 4X4 driveline as standard and are offered in both petrol and diesel iterations. The Mahindra Thar is powered by a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (TGDi) four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC petrol engine that makes 150 Bhp of power and 320 Nm for AT (300 Nm for MT) of torque. The other option is the traditional diesel unit which comes with a mHawk series 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 130 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. Both powertrains are matched to a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional 6-speed torque converter type automatic gearbox. 

The lifestyle SUV comes with hardcore off-roading tools such as a manual transfer case with a shift-on-fly electric driveline disconnect and a low crawl ratio of 42:1 with a 50:50 power split. In addition to this, the brand has also launched its line of accessories which includes ‘Off-Road & Adventure Accessories’ which consists of Vehicle Recovery, Camping, Go Pro Adventure Camera, Maintenance, Vehicle Protection and Other Utilities. Furthermore, the brand has also included a range of exterior embellishments, interiors upgrades as well as merchandise giving the owner an opportunity to fully customize their Thar.
