2020 Mahindra Bolero with BS6 engine launched at INR 7.76 lakh

Mahindra has launched the 2020 model year Bolero with a BS6 compliant engine at the price starting INR 7.76 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. The new Mahindra Bolero comes with mild changes to its exteriors as well as its interiors along with the new BS6 emissions-compliant mHawk series diesel engine and latest standard safety features for both passengers and pedestrians.

In terms of styling, the 2020 Mahindra Bolero carries forward its timeless boxy design and now gets refreshed headlamps with cornering lamps (static bending technology), refreshed X-shaped bumper with new rounded fog lamps with black inserts, refreshed grille design with vertically slated grille and a skid plate effect on the front bumper. On the sides, the Bolero carries forward the same silhouette but gets new body graphics and a new clear lens tail lamp on the rear. 

On the inside, the 2020 Mahindra Bolero comes with new contoured seat with new upholstery that claims to provide extra support and enhanced comfort as compared to the predecessor. The 7-seater SUV also features an audio system with Bluetooth, USB & AUX connectivity, a digital instrument cluster that provides information about fuel on board, engine temperature, speed, engine RPM and comes with various other telltale lights. The driver also gets a driver information display which shows instant details on the trip, mileage, day/date and warnings. 

In the engine department, the 2020 Mahindra Bolero comes with a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre mHawk75 diesel engine that makes 75 hp of power and 210 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission with Micro Hybrid technology (Auto Engine Start/Stop) across all variants. 

In terms of safety, the Mahindra Bolero features driver side airbag, anti-lock braking system, co-driver occupant detection system, seat belt reminder for both driver and passenger, reverse parking sensors and conforms to the latest pedestrian safety norms and is the only vehicle in India with metal bumpers to have complied with pedestrian safety norms. 

The Mahindra Bolero has been in India since the past 20 years and it still holds a big chunk in the utility vehicle segment. The Bolero was launched in the year 2000 and in five years the car managed to capture 20% of the market with 24,834 units sold. In 2011 the brand introduced the new generation Bolero equipped with latest m2DiCR and the brand achieved to sell more than 1 lakh cars. In 2014 the Bolero bagged India’s No.1 SUV award and at this point, more than 7 lakh units were sold since its launch. In 2016 the brand launched the Bolero Power+ with the introduction of the mHawkD70 engine and in 2018 more than a million SUVs were sold since its launch. The Mahindra Bolero claims it position in the top 3 SUVs in India and top 10 passenger cars in India.
