Kawasaki has launched the new & improved version of the Z900 in India, but surprisingly with a BS4 spec engine. The updated motorcycle has been priced at INR 7.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Special Edition. The 2020 Kawasaki Z900 Special Edition will e sold in 2 body colour options and will be available only till stocks last at this price. Later, the brand will launch the BS6 compliant model, but at a higher price tag obviously.

Powering the 2020 Z900 is a 948cc, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, BS4 compliant motor for now which produces 123 BHP of power and 98.6 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The 2020 model comes with plenty of changes such as a stronger chassis, new suspension tuning, full LED lighting, 4.3″ TFT colour display instrument cluster, traction control, power modes with riding modes, smartphone connectivity and Dunlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres. The full digital speedometer cluster which will lend a more techy feel while riding the bike. Thanks to the new electronic riding aids, the new Z900 will become more easier to ride.

The price announced for this special edition of the Kawasaki Z900 is only for customers who make full payment to purchase the bike before 20th March, 2020. Deliveries of the motorcycle will begin from the end of February 2020 and Kawasaki will stop accepting bookings once the allocated lot with this BS4 motor is exhausted.

The Kawasaki Z900 is a much loved motorcycle in the big bike market, and was a successor to the Z800 sportsbike. The Z800 though, in our books, was a much better looking motorcycle. Kawasaki has slowly started to introduce BS6 compliant motorcycles and the price hike is going to be noticeable over the current line-up. The additional technology and hardware will result in this price hike, but manufacturers are also trying to introduce new features to offset costs. Would you buy the BS4 spec Z900 or wait for the BS6 model?
