Kawasaki has officially announced the Euro-5 / BS6 compliant Z650 sportsbike for the Indian market. While the official debut hasn’t happened and bikes are not yet in showrooms, Kawasaki reveals that the updated motorcycle will be priced between INR 6.25 – 6.5 lakh ex-showroom. That makes the bike nearly INR 55,000 – 80,000 more expensive than the current BS4 model on sale. However, for 2020, the Kawasaki Z650 comes with more additions apart from the BS6 motor.

Kawasaki will offer the 2020 Z650 only in a single body colour option initially which will be the Metallic Spark Black.

For 2020, the changes to the motorcycle include a new Z Sugomi style headlamp with LED DRLs and LED headlamp, new front fly screen, new body decals, a new 4.3″ TFT colour display speedo console with bluetooth connectivity, DUnlop Sportsmax Roadsport 2 tyres, body profile of the motorcycle now having a low front and upswept rear styling, improved pillion seat, etc. The Z650 is a naked street bike version of the popular sports tourer Kawasaki Ninja 650. The bike is ideal for sport riding along with being very comfortable inside the city for all day commutes.

While the new bike is improved in the emissions compliance, it continues with the 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke motor producing the same 67.2 BHP of power and 65.7 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper assist clutch. The Z650 comes with an underbelly exhaust, split set setup, single-piece handlebar, forged levers, upright riding style, prominent tank shrouds, etc. to give it a modern look.

The Kawasaki Z650 rivals the likes of CFMoto 650 NK and Benelli TNT 600i in the 600cc class of middle-weight affordable motorcycles. Expect bikes to reach showrooms by Q1 of 2020.
