Isuzu has revealed a teaser video which reveals that the new D-Max is just around the corner. The car seems to be ready for a global debut, and will also hit the Indian streets by early 2020. We expect Isuzu to launch the new D-Max in India sometime around the Auto Expo period in 2020, and it will still remain a car unrivaled because of its sheer size. If a competition has to be mentioned, then it will be the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway.
The teaser video reveals an all-new front fascia. One can clearly see an all-black front grille with the Isuzu branding on a gloss black plate. The grille also integrates a massive air dam for better breathing for the engine. The new D-Max from Isuzu will come with LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs. You can notice that the turn indicator has been stacked above the LED fog lamp unit, in a similar layout we’ve seen on the MG Hector on the bumper section. On looking closely, the new Isuzu D-Max also reveals front parking sensors for ease of maneuverability. At the back, the car will come with new LED tail lamps and a similar branding on the tail gate. However, the 5th door, the tail gate will look more muscular now.
Inside, the 2020 Isuzu D-Max is expected to take things a notch higher in terms of comfort and premium feel. The first giveaway is that the D-Max will get an automatic gearbox with tiptronic function. The controls for the climate control look very nice, finished in aluminum along with silver acents on the centre console. There will be park assist, hill descent control and 4×4 terrain management system via the use of a button.
Recently, Isuzu launched a new 1.9L diesel engine in India paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. No details are available on the drivetrain for the new D-Max which is coming soon. This is the 3rd generation of the D-Max pick-up truck and it is rumoured to have been jointly developed with Mazda.
