2020 Hyundai i20 gets 20,000 bookings in 20 days

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced today that the all-new Hyundai i20 hot hatchback has garnered more than 20,000 bookings within the span of 20 days. The brand has also delivered over 4,000 Hyundai i20’s to customers during the Diwali festive season. Hyundai started accepting the pre-launch bookings at the end of October and the 4th generation car was launched on 5th November 2020. The Hyundai i20 is priced starting INR 6,79,900 ex-showroom, India which is an introductory price and will be applicable on deliveries till 31st December 2020. 

Hyundai has revealed that more than 85% of customers have opted for the mid-spec Sportz and above trims. Furthermore, 45% of customers have preferred variants with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected technology, close to 30% bookings have been made for i20 equipped with a sunroof, 35% customers have made bookings for the model equipped with Oxyboost

Air purifier, 25% of customers have opted for the brand’s new and advanced transmission offerings such as IVT (Continuously Variable Transmission, iMT (Clutch-Pedal-Less intelligent Manual Transmission) and DCT (Dual Clutch Automatic Transmission). Also, the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi Diesel BS6 Powertrain has amassed almost 20% share. 

The all-new Hyundai i20 is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre Kappa series naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 83 PS of power on the 5-speed manual transmission and 88 PS output on the IVT automatic gearbox. In both the gearbox options the torque output remains the same at 114.7 Nm. Secondly, the i20 comes with a BS6 compliant 1.0-litre TGDi turbocharged petrol engine that belts out 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed DCT automatic or an iMT clutch-pedal-less intelligent manual transmission. For diesel aficionados, the i20 is offered with a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel motor that makes 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai has revealed that the brand has received an overwhelming response for the virtual launch of the hot hatchback, with video assets crossing the 47 million view mark and search volumes have also increased three folds since the car launched in the Indian market.
