2020 all-new Hyundai Creta will create new segment benchmark?

Written by Parichay Malvankar

The undisputed king of the segment in the mid-size SUV space is the Hyundai Creta. Even after numerous new entrants, the Creta makes a strong case for itself as a stylish, spacious and reliable city SUV for the Indian market. But now, we all know that the 2020 new-generation Creta SUV is in development and will replace the current model soon. Hyundai is expected to reveal the new-gen Creta at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Dubbed as the ix25, the new Hyundai Creta which will be the 2nd generation model is first making a debut in China, and then in our market. The Kia Seltos will be the car with which the new Creta will share its platform, engines and other parts. Given the fact that Kia has already disrupted the segment with a few best-in-class features, we can only imagine how much more value Hyundai will add to the new Creta in India.

These new spyshots reveal the exterior front end design and the interiors of the 2020 Hyundai Creta. The interior layout is all-new, and not similar to the current Creta or even the Kia Seltos. with an all-black design, the new Hyundai Creta will have a large touchscreen infotainment screen similar to what we have seen in Tesla cars. This would surely wow buyers. Also, the 2020 Creta will offer a full digital speedometer console similar to the new-generation BMW 3-Series G20. This definitely will be a big selling point for the brand. The new centre console and additional features over the Creta and even over the Kia Seltos would surely again allow the Hyundai Creta to dominate the segment.

The front end exterior styling is similar to the concept, with LED DRLs and LED headlamps positioned adjacent to the front grille, ant not in the conventional placement. One can notice a healthy dose of body cladding, dual tone alloy wheels, roof rails and more typical-SUV design traits.

The 2020 Hyundai ix25 / Creta is expected to measure 4300mm in length making it longer than the old model by 30mm, 1790mm in width which will make it 10mm more wider, 1622mm in height which will bring down the overall height compared to the current model by 8mm. These are China-specs for the Creta, but for sure, the India-spec car will also be larger in dimensions than the one we have now.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta will have a 1.5L 115 PS diesel engine, 1.5L 115 PS petrol engine and a 1.4L 140 PS turbo-petrol engine. All engines will come matched to a manual or automatic gearbox option.
